Welcome to my kitchen!
The recipes you’ll discover here are a reflection of my life, my travels, and the incredible flavors I’ve encountered along the way. I’m Serena Miller, a Miami-based food enthusiast with a deep-rooted love for cooking and a passion for sharing my culinary adventures.
Growing up in a bustling family in sunny Miami, Florida, my journey into the culinary world began at a young age. Our kitchen was always alive with the sizzle of pans and the fragrant aroma of spices. Those early experiences ignited my curiosity for cooking, and before I knew it, I was experimenting with recipes and hosting mini feasts for friends and family.
After earning my bachelor’s degree in Tourism, I embarked on a journey that would take me across continents. From savoring street food in Bangkok to learning the art of pasta making in Rome, each destination left a unique mark on my cooking. My goal is to bring those global flavors to your kitchen through recipes that are approachable, creative, and utterly delicious.
Now, I live in a cozy apartment in Miami, where the vibrant energy of the city serves as a constant source of inspiration. My home doubles as my studio—a space where I develop recipes, photograph my creations, and, yes, sometimes make a glorious mess in the process. Here, I strive to craft dishes that blend comfort with innovation, offering something for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned cook or a kitchen novice.
Since launching SerenaRecipes.com, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to connect with a global community of food lovers. Frequently Asked Questions about Serena Miller:
- How did you come up with the name Serena Recipes?
The idea for SerenaRecipes came naturally—it’s simply a blend of my name and my passion! I wanted a name that reflects my personal connection to every recipe I share. Each dish carries a piece of my journey, so it only felt right to make it personal yet simple.
- Do you use any filters on your photos?
I like to keep my food photos as natural as possible. Food should look real and appetizing! I do minor edits for brightness and contrast but steer clear of heavy filters. I want you to see every detail and feel like you’re right there in the kitchen with me.
- How do you clean your cookware?
For cast iron, I use hot water and a soft sponge, avoiding soap to preserve the seasoning. If something’s really stuck, I’ll sprinkle some coarse salt and scrub gently. For other pans, I rely on warm soapy water and a little elbow grease!
- What do you use to shoot your content?
I shoot most of my videos and quick shots with my iPhone, but for high-quality photos, I use a Canon EOS R6. Natural light is my go-to for creating vibrant, mouthwatering shots.
- Where do you shop for ingredients?
Living in Miami, I’m spoiled with options! I love shopping at local farmers’ markets for fresh produce, Whole Foods for specialty items, and Publix for everyday essentials. I also order some unique ingredients online from Thrive Market and Amazon.
- Do you have any siblings?
Yes, I have two siblings—an older brother and a younger sister. Growing up, they were my first taste testers, and they still critique my cooking today!
- What’s your favorite type of cuisine to cook?
That’s a tough one! If I had to choose, I’d say I’m partial to Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. I love how they balance bold flavors with fresh ingredients.
- Do you live with your family?
No, I currently live in my own cozy apartment in Miami. My family isn’t far, though, and they’re always eager to swing by for a meal or two when I’m testing new recipes.
- Why don’t you show your face on the blog?
I value my privacy and prefer to let my food take center stage. That’s why you’ll see a fun cartoon version of me on the blog—a little playful touch that still feels personal without revealing too much.
