Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, brown sugar, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
- In another bowl, mix melted butter, molasses, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring until just mixed.
- Spread dough evenly in the pan and bake for 18–20 minutes, until edges are set and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool before cutting into squares. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
