Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon baking soda
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup milk
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¾ cup boiling water
- ½ cup peanut butter
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, combine the milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract. Add to dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Melt the peanut butter and mix with boiling water before adding it to the batter.
- Pour the batter into a prepared 9-inch round cake pan and bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes.
- Let the cake cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.
Notes
- Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the cake tender.
- Use high-quality cocoa powder for a richer flavor.
- Swirl peanut butter into the frosting for an extra kick.
- Let the cake cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
