Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 bag tortilla chips
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
- Optional toppings: diced tomatoes, sliced jalapeños, sour cream, guacamole, salsa
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion and cook until the beef is fully cooked and the onion is translucent. Drain any excess grease, then stir in the taco seasoning according to the packet instructions.
- Preheat your oven to broil. On a large, oven-safe platter, spread out the tortilla chips in a single layer. Evenly distribute the seasoned ground beef over the chips.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the ground beef and chips. Add additional toppings before broiling.
- Place the platter in the preheated oven and broil for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving with remaining toppings.
Notes
- Spice it up: Add cayenne pepper for extra heat.
- Vegetarian option: Substitute ground beef with black beans or lentils.
- Cheese choices: Experiment with different types of cheese.
- Topping combinations: Add corn, olives, or a drizzle of queso for added flavor.
