  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Fries:

  • 4 large russet potatoes (or sweet potatoes for a twist)
  • 23 tbsp olive oil (or cooking spray for air frying)
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For the Garlic Parmesan Topping:

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Optional Add-Ins:

  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (for heat)
  • 1 tsp truffle oil (for a gourmet touch)
  • Zest of ½ lemon (for brightness)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Potatoes:

    • Wash and peel the potatoes (optional).
    • Cut into thin, even strips for uniform cooking.
    • Soak in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch, then drain and pat completely dry with paper towels.
  • Cook the Fries:

    Oven Method:

    • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Toss fries with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
    • Spread them in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
    • Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.

    Air Fryer Method:

    • Preheat air fryer to 380°F (190°C).
    • Lightly spray fries with oil.
    • Air fry for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  • Make the Garlic Parmesan Sauce:

    • Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
    • Add minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
    • Remove from heat and stir in grated Parmesan cheese.

  • Toss and Serve:

    • Transfer hot fries to a large mixing bowl.
    • Pour the garlic Parmesan butter mixture over them and toss to coat evenly.
    • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, soak potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes and dry thoroughly before cooking.
  • Make it ahead: Par-cook fries, freeze them, and reheat in an oven or air fryer when ready to serve.
  • Flavor variations: Add smoked paprika, cayenne, or truffle oil for a gourmet twist.
