Ingredients
Scale
For the Cookies:
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or your preferred variety)
Optional Add-Ins:
- 1 cup chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or pecans)
- Sea salt flakes (for sprinkling on top before baking)
Instructions
1. Preparing the Dough
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips (and optional add-ins like nuts).
2. Chilling the Dough
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes (or overnight) to prevent spreading and enhance texture.
3. Shaping the Cookies
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls.
- Space them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. If desired, flatten the dough balls slightly for more uniform cookies.
- Sprinkle with sea salt flakes for a gourmet touch.
4. Baking the Cookies
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers are soft.
- For even baking, rotate the baking sheet halfway through.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
