Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped (any color)
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices provolone cheese (or cheese of your choice)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet with the ground beef. SautƩ until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Spoon the beef mixture onto the hamburger buns and top each with a slice of provolone cheese. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Provolone is classic, but feel free to use cheddar, mozzarella, or cheese sauce instead.
- Add chopped jalapeƱos or a dash of hot sauce for extra heat.
- Using hoagie rolls can enhance the authenticity of the Philly cheesesteak experience.
- For a vegetarian option, swap ground beef with plant-based crumbles.
- Pair with fries, coleslaw, or a simple salad for a complete meal.
