Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, cilantro, green onions
Instructions
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion and bell pepper to the pot with the ground beef and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes (undrained), kidney beans (rinsed and drained), chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the chili simmer for at least 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, before serving hot.
Notes
- Use quality ingredients for the best flavor.
- Taste and adjust seasoning while the chili simmers.
- For richer flavor, let it simmer longer.
- Consider adding toppings such as shredded cheese or sour cream for extra flavor.
