Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 (24 ounce) jar of your favorite pasta sauce
- 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 (12 ounce) package egg noodles
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Garlic powder, Italian seasoning for added flavor
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, adding the chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain excess grease and season with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
- In the same skillet, stir in the pasta sauce and cream of mushroom soup, mixing well until heated through.
- Cook egg noodles according to package directions, drain, and mix with the beef and sauce mixture. Layer half in a casserole dish, add half the cheese, layer the remaining noodles, and finish with the remaining cheese.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Let stand before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, consider adding red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
- Incorporate diced vegetables like bell peppers, carrots, or peas for added nutrition.
- Experiment with different cheeses such as mozzarella or Italian blends.
- For a creamier casserole, you can add sour cream or cream cheese.
- Try using ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Assemble ahead of time and refrigerate, baking time will increase if baked from cold.
