  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar of your favorite pasta sauce
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 (12 ounce) package egg noodles
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Garlic powder, Italian seasoning for added flavor

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, adding the chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain excess grease and season with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
  2. In the same skillet, stir in the pasta sauce and cream of mushroom soup, mixing well until heated through.
  3. Cook egg noodles according to package directions, drain, and mix with the beef and sauce mixture. Layer half in a casserole dish, add half the cheese, layer the remaining noodles, and finish with the remaining cheese.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Let stand before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, consider adding red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
  • Incorporate diced vegetables like bell peppers, carrots, or peas for added nutrition.
  • Experiment with different cheeses such as mozzarella or Italian blends.
  • For a creamier casserole, you can add sour cream or cream cheese.
  • Try using ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Assemble ahead of time and refrigerate, baking time will increase if baked from cold.
