Instructions
1. Preparing the Dough
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just incorporated.
2. Dividing and Coloring the Dough
- Divide the dough into 4–6 equal portions.
- Add a few drops of gel food coloring to each portion and knead the dough until the color is evenly distributed.
- Flatten each portion into a disc, wrap them in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
3. Creating the Marble Effect
- Roll out small portions of each colored dough and stack or twist them together.
- Gently roll the combined dough into balls and flatten them slightly to form marbled cookies.
4. Baking the Cookies
- Arrange the marbled cookie dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Chilling Dough: Chilling the dough helps prevent the cookies from spreading too much.
