Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup M&M’s (Halloween colors)
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Candy eyes for decoration
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Add the rolled oats and mix well.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the M&M’s and chocolate chips.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Press candy eyes onto the tops while warm.
Notes
- Use Softened Butter: Ensure your butter is properly softened for easy creaming.
- Don’t Overmix: Overmixing can lead to tough cookies. Mix until just combined.
- Chill the Dough: For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
- Get Creative with Decorations: Use different candies, sprinkles, and colored frostings to make each cookie unique.
