Ingredients

Scale
For the Butterbeer Cookies:
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar (for a caramelized depth)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup cream soda (for authentic butterbeer flavor)
For the Dark Chocolate Coating:
  • 1 ½ cups dark chocolate chips (for a smooth, glossy finish)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or vegetable shortening
Optional Decorations:
  • Edible gold dust or sprinkles
  • Extra melted chocolate for drizzling

Instructions

1. Prepare the Butterbeer Cookie Dough
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and mix until fully incorporated.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract and cream soda, blending for a smooth, buttery dough.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined (avoid overmixing).
2. Chill the Dough
  1. Cover and chill the dough for at least 30 minutes to prevent cookies from spreading too much during baking.
3. Bake the Cookies
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden but the centers remain soft.
  4. Let cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
4. Make the Dark Chocolate Coating
  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt dark chocolate chips with coconut oil, stirring every 20 seconds until smooth.
5. Coat & Decorate the Cookies
  1. Dip each cooled cookie halfway into the melted dark chocolate, then place on a parchment-lined tray.
  2. Sprinkle with edible gold dust or sprinkles for a Slytherin-inspired shimmer.
  3. Drizzle with extra melted chocolate for a sophisticated, polished look.
6. Set & Serve
  1. Let the chocolate coating set at room temperature for 15-20 minutes, or refrigerate for faster hardening.
  2. Serve and enjoy your enchanting wizard treats!
