Ingredients
- Ground beef: The base of our hearty casserole.
- Onion: Adds savory depth to the beef layer.
- Taco seasoning: Provides a zesty, Southwestern flavor.
- Refried beans: Creates a creamy layer.
- Shredded cheddar cheese: Adds a melty, cheesy goodness.
- Diced tomatoes: Offers a fresh, tangy topping.
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the taco seasoning and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the refried beans evenly across the bottom of the baking dish. Top with the seasoned ground beef mixture, followed by a layer of shredded cheddar cheese. Repeat the layers: refried beans, ground beef mixture, and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Top with diced tomatoes before serving. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- Use quality ground beef for the best flavor.
- Don’t skip draining the excess grease after browning the beef.
- Ensure each layer is evenly spread for consistent flavor in every bite.
- Feel free to add extra toppings like sour cream, guacamole, or salsa.
