For the Cookies:

Instructions
1. Preparing the Dough
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
- Add vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
2. Mixing and Chilling the Dough
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts, if using) until evenly distributed.
- Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to 24 hours for enhanced flavor).
3. Shaping and Baking the Cookies
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place them 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 9–12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are soft.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
