Ingredients
For the Patties:
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
For the Signature Sauce:
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp pickle relish
For Assembly:
- 4 sesame seed buns, toasted
- 4 slices of tomato
- 4 leaves of iceberg lettuce
- 4 slices of red onion
- 4 slices of dill pickle
- Optional: Cheese slices (American, cheddar, or plant-based alternative)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Patties:
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Gently mix without overworking the meat. Form into 4 equal patties, making them slightly larger than the buns to account for shrinkage.
- For the flame-grilled effect: Cook on a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat for 3–4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
- If adding cheese, place slices on patties during the last minute of cooking, covering with a lid to melt.
2. Make the Signature Sauce:
- In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and pickle relish until smooth.
- Adjust seasoning to taste. Set aside.
3. Toast the Buns:
- Lightly toast the sesame seed buns in a skillet or on the grill until golden brown.
4. Assemble the Whopper:
- Spread a generous amount of sauce on both halves of the toasted bun.
- Layer the bottom bun with lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, and pickles.
- Place the flame-grilled beef patty on top, then add another dollop of sauce.
- Cover with the top bun and serve immediately.
Notes
- Storage: Cooked patties can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
- Flame-Grilled Tip: If using a stovetop, brush patties with liquid smoke or smoked paprika for a charred flavor.
- Serving Suggestion: Pair with fries, onion rings, or a milkshake for the full fast-food experience!
